James "Jim" Scott
James (Jim) Scott, 79, of West Branch, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on June 21, 1941 in Fairfield, Iowa to G.W. and Doris Scott. He attended Winfield High School before graduating from Iowa Wesleyan College. He married Alice Paull on January 29, 1966 in Waterloo, Iowa. Their marriage of 55 years was full of love and laughter. Together they raised their four children in West Branch. Prior to his retirement in 1997, he operated the family-owned farm supply retail business, Fleetway Stores, Inc. He enjoyed bowling and golf over the years but most importantly he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, friends and Auggie the Doggie. Survivors include his wife, Alice; four children, Jan (Steve) O’Neil of West Branch, Erin (Bryan) Pforr of Prospect, KY, David (Sara) Scott of Council Bluffs, IA and Robyn (Ben) Bartels of Chanhassen, MN; 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Adam & Evan O’Neil, Scott, Abigayle & Corinne Pforr, Eleanor, Lucy & Jimmy Scott, Sean, Natalie & Gavin Bartels; his sister Julie Scott (James Fluck) of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to benefit organizations close to Jim’s heart.
